Why I am Happy about Modiji

Real Inheritance of Modiji:

The only inheritance of Narendrabhai Modi is his spiritual & cultural values, and empowered by these assets of selflessness, hard work & integrity he has been winning hearts of his people, in & outside Gujarat in an amazing way. Such people all the more validate the beauty & efficacy of good spiritual qualities. It is not about the individuals, but is all about the importance & beauty of some good qualities & values. In Tulsi Ramayana, Bhagwan Sri Ram told Vibhishan that the chariot riding which a man goes around winning the great wars & challenges of life is not something outside, but are some divine qualities of mind. Thereafter he enumerated them in great details in the section which is now famous as Dharma-Rath. I am happy that a person who is truly committed to some divine qualities not only gets success in various fields, but is blessed with much more. These qualities alone assure that a person even from humble background can rise so high in the country & world.

Swami Vivekananda & Vedanta:

The majority are happy about Modiji because he works so sincerely & fearlessly for the well-being of all, but I am happy for some other reason too. For the first time we have a potential CEO of the country who is not only committed to good spiritual values, but also to the timeless philosophy of Hinduism, which is Vedanta. Whoever is inspired by Swami Vivekananda is basically inspired by the vision of Vedanta. Vedanta is the greatest inheritance of entire mankind, the best which anyone can ever think & dream. Whatever Swami Vivekananda was, it was all because of Vedanta. Ram-Rajya was possible because Sri Ram was an embodiment of Vedanta, and so also was Bhagwan Sri Krishna. He lived Vedanta and he taught Vedanta in Gita. In Modiji I see a person who has profound value & respect for Vedanta. I did not see this fragrance in other BJP leaders, including Atalji or Advaniji, and this is what makes me truly happy. I wish & pray that may the vision of Vedanta continue to empower, enrich & enliven his life all the more, as much as the lives of everyone else. Vedanta is truly the philosophy of freedom, fulfilment & success.

The Real Secularism:

The tragedy of India has so far been that we have ignored our spiritual values, vision & inheritance. The real implication of Secularirm should have been to get the best of all the saints & sages of all religions, to help our countrymen & the world in the best possible manner, but unfortunately all this was just ignored, and was literally left to dogs. The funny thing is that we have ministers even for School & College education, but that knowledge, which is the greatest of our heritage for the well-being of the entire world, has no place in the plan of any leaders. It is all left to some individuals & institutions, with their meagre resources to do whatever they can. Governments are all about doing things on mega scale, but no one even seemed to have a thought or heart for such things. There were some, like Dr Radhakrishnan, Dr Abdul Kalam etc., who spoke on its importance, but alas they were never the CEO’s of the country, and therefore nothing concrete was done to make people aware of these extremely important truths of life. The problems of corruption, violence, rapes, dirty minds in dirty places all reveal the consequence of ignoring these true man-making values. Bhagwan Sri Ram, not only managed the economy of his country nicely, but personally saw to it that his people got such knowledge & values. With all the existing diversity in our country we do not say, that we declare ourselves as a spiritual state etc, but someone can certainly channelize the best of wisdom of all to make the basic character of the people of this country something all the more better. Every citizen of this country deserves something better.

World-class Universal Consciousness Center:

We need to have a government sponsored and financed research center of spiritual knowledge & wisdom. Truth is not confined to just one book or tradition, so let everyone give out their best for the betterment of all. I dream of an International Center of Universal Consciousness. This will not only help bring about true unity of all our countrymen, but can well be a unifying factor of all the people of the world, in the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. Let such a research center devise courses for children, youth, executives, women, old people; let it become a catalyst for encouraging art & literature based on such noble unifying non-dual vision. Let it be a center for inspiring & guiding people from all backgrounds, including foreigners, who always look-upto our country for such guidance. India has contributed in a profound way for the beauty of the world, and can do much more. We are blessed that both the science & technology of such things is available, all what we need is an inspired & committed person on top. A real noble & committed executive, a true son of our Rishis. In Modiji I somehow have a faint hope that such things may be possible in our country.

Some Thoughts on Ganesh Chaturthi

On the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi and the beginning of the ten days Ganesh Festival we convey our blessings & best wishes to all our members and devotees.

How does Ganeshji remove obstacles?

May Bhagwan Ganeshji help bring about the necessary buddhi & inner strength in all to help them grow over their difficulties & obstacles. The methodology of blessing us is not directly by providing any situations or achievements – without our Karmas. That would amount to interference in the Law of Karma – set-up by God himself. Karma is the basis, so what the gurus or the gods do is to help us overcome our fears & inhibitions so that we can be enthused to face our challenges with greater wisdom & strength. This is what Bhagwan Sri Krishna also tells in the fourth chapter of Gita, that I just help increase the faith & enthusiasm of a person in their aspirations, and then alone great things happen and the obstacles are overcome. One who is aware of these facts will pray for the right things. Praying just for fruits amounts to remaining a weak person for life, but asking for buddhi is true empowerment, a real blessing of God. So let us always remember the Vedic Prayer of Gayatri Mantra that – Dhiyo yo nah prachodayat, O God I pray for the awakening of my intellect.

Sensitivity to Nature:

Traditionally Hindu’s have always been very sensitive to nature – we call it Prakriti – prakushta kruti of God, that which is an amazing creation of God, in fact the more we go into details we realize that God himself has manifested himself as the creation. So many of our Vedic Gods are the the elements & powers of nature:  fire, wind, sun water, earth etc. We look upon stars & constellations as nakshatras, and worship them too. In Gita Bhagwan Krishna manifests as the Viswa-Roopa itself, wherein Arjuna got the eye to ‘see’ the whole creation as the very physical body of God. The Upanishads too declare that ‘Isavasyam idam sarvam – Everything  is pervaded by God’. However, as the decadence of our religion set in we kept going away from these amazingly beautiful values & vision, and today the majority of Hindu’s have become very insensitive to nature & environment. Our festivals have become an environmentalists horror & nightmare. We pollute our rivers, air, sound and what not. If we dont wake up soon, then the world which we shall leave for our children will be literally un-liveable – all the more dirt & polluted. We need to wake up fast before its too late.

Visarjan is polluting our reservoirs:

In the Ganesh Festival, beautiful idols of Lord Ganesh are made, kudos to the artists who do an amazing job, we bring our beloved God to our homes & localities, worship him, serve him, have cultural & religious programs for all these days thus strengthening the great values – all this is great & good, however, as the festival comes to a close we immerse the idol in a nearby reservoir, and this again has become a big. big problem for our lakes, rivers or beaches. Celebrations should never be at the cost of our precious & common natural resources. It is this same water which the animals drink, the fishes live there, and so do so many plants. Many a times we drink water too from these reservoirs. Real dharma is to be aware of the well-being of all.

The Better Way:

The tradition of bringing Gods to our homes is a great one, we give the message that the Gods can & do come to their own people – to bless their children, but in this process it would be good if we don’t pollute the environs, which has all been so lovingly made by our Gods himself. Whether it is sound-pollution, air-pollution, water-pollution or earth-pollution, it is our own land, these are our Gods, our Mother Earth. So we need to go back to the roots and find the way out. There is a system of doing Parthiv-Linga Pooja of Bhagwan Shiva. The idol is made from nice & pure mud – brought from a lake, we make shiv-linga out of that and later do visarjan into the very earth – in pure form. No paints or non-bio-degradable things like polythene or plastics. Can we do that here also? Invoke your creativity, do some hard work, get good mud from a nice clean place, make your own mud-idols, make the best of celebrations, and then do the visarjan of the idol either back into earth somewhere – preferably the same place, or even get a tub of water, invoke all the tirtha’s in it and then immerse the idol there itself – in your own house, we can make that also a great occasion.

Om Sri Ganapataye Namah !

A ‘Study Group’ at Vadodara started

The first ‘Study Group‘ has been started at Vadodara after the recent Gita Gyana Yagna at Atma-Jyoti Ashram there. Poojya Swaminiji provided all the tech-guidance to set-up the mp3 player & its amplification. Various interested devotees have decided to meet once a week to listen to the last two discourses given there – in Gujarati.

The best part of this Gyana Yagna was that it was the Ashram people who took up this program as their own, and organized everything from scratch,, and now they are enthused to go fast forward.
