2. Cultural Program :

Evening time was for children. There were two main cultural programs in the Sankaracharya Hall at the Ashram after the evening Aarti – from 7.30 PM onwards. The first was the Matki-Phod Program, and the second were two dances by the children. Both were very enjoyable by all.

1. Matki-Phod Program :

In this program a pot full of flowers, chocolates & toffees were kept on one side of the Hall on a stool. A three feet path was drawn to it from the other side of the Hall. From this other side the player was blind-folded and spun a bit, then was given a stick and put straight facing the pot. Thereafter the person had to navigate with sounds etc towards the pot and if the person reached the pot successfully then he/she had to break the pot. Many tried but went off way, few did reach near, only one child managed – he was Nakul Dubey. He later shared his booty with all the children. Everyone got some sweets.

3. Vishnu Sahasranama Archana :

From 9.30 to 11.30 in the night there was the beautiful ritual of Vishnu Sahasranama Archana, in which around 30 devotees directly participated. All others participated indirectly sitting outside. The main Yajman of the program were Sh Ajitbhai & Smt Rajshreeben Kalaria of Vadodara. Poojya Guruji and others chanted the thousand names of Bhagwan Vishnu and all participants repeated these names and simultaneously did Archana with flower petals which were regularly replenished by Ashram sewaks. Bhagwan Vishnu was invoked in the form of fire and was present as a flame in front of the devotees. Later everyone did the Aarti.

4. Janam Celebrations / Maha-Aarti at 12 :

The main program of the day was the birth celebration of Bhagwan Sri Krishna at dot 12 in the night. For this lovely jhanki was made by devotees under the guidance of P. Swamini Amitanandaji. Urvishbhai & Ajitbhai from Vadodara did lot of hard work.

In the center a big altar of Bhagwan Krishna was made. On one side of the altar was the scene of Mathura jail where Lord was born, a small river Yamuna with flowing water was also made. On the other side of the river was the Gokul village where Vasudevji took the child Krishna. On the other side of the altar was Bhagwat Gita and picture of the traditional Acharyas, who have blessed their disciples with the knowledge of Bhagwan Krishna. Beautiful lightening were done.

From 11.30 onwards there were lovely Bhajans, chanting of Krishnashtakam by campers, and finally chanting of Purusha Suktam by Ashram Mahatmas. At dot 12, lights were put off for a minute and then again switched on. Thereafter were Maha-Aarti, bhajans and even joyous dances. Prasad was distributed to all.

The five days Vedanta (Janmashtami) Camp concluded very satisfactorily on the 16th Aug. After dinner there was the Dakshina session, in which not only the devotees offered their gratitude in the form of Dakshina but also shared their Camp & Ashram experiences. Overall it was great to see everyone going back highly inspired, enlightened & gratified. Their overwhelming joy exuded in the form of elaborate descriptions of every small thing in the Ashram – the warmth of Ashramites, the beautiful management; sattwic food which was lovingly served, and overall the discourses of Poojya Guruji on Amrutbindu Upanishad, Gita me Dharma by Sw Amitanandaji, Chanting by Sw Samatanandaji and the daily Puja under the supervision of Sw Poornanandaji. It was great to see the sensitivity of the delegates for the smallest things.
