On 28th Dec evening the Dec’14 edition of Hanuman Chalisa Satsang was organized at the Sankaracharya Sabhagruh of the Vedanta Ashram, Indore. The cold wave was in full swing, yet a good number of devotees came over for the satsang. The group of devotees of Das-Bagichi-Bhajan-Mandal are the most commendable – regular, punctual & dedicated. They create the right ambiance for the satsang with lovely bhajans.
In his hour long pravachan Poojya Guruji continued and then concluded his discourse on the line Jai Kapish, Tihu loka ujagar.
Revealing more implication of the word Kapish, he said that kapi means monkey, and our minds are like monkeys, jumping from one branch to another, one thought to the other, and it is only when our mind have become our friend that there shall be blessed with well-being at all levels of our lives & living. Winning over the vacillations of our mind is indeed one of the greatest achievements & siddhis in life, and this is what Hanumanji epitomizes. This makes him worthy of our reverence & salutations. Jai Kapish has the flavor of Jai Manish – the master of ones mind. This not only requires being sensitive to the requirements of ones thoughts & desires, but also also have a more magnanimous identity. Mind is not our enemy but a devoted sewak, so it is not something to be suppressed but has to be intelligently & lovingly handled. It is like handling your own children or servants lovingly. If handled properly they become our beautiful instruments and thereafter there is proper tuning up & communication – for their own well-being.
Regarding having a magnanimous identity, Guruji narrated the episode wherein Ramji once asked the nature of relationship which Hanumanji had towards Ramji, and he said that from my body point of view it is my pleasure & honor to be your sewak; from the point of view of Jiva, I am a part of a whole represented by you – always connected; while from my truth point of view I am never different from you. All these identities help us to be more & more empowered & thus friendly with our own mind, however, he who knows the ultimate & absolute truth of ones Self indeed becomes the the real master of mind. This is what is revealed in the latter part of the chaupayi, wherein Goswamiji says that ‘Tihun Loka Ujagar’ – one who enlightens the three worlds. It is consciousnes alone which enlighten all the three worlds, and one who realizes his/her identity as pure consciousness is a truly enlightened person. This is in line with the teachings of Upanishads & Gita. Hanumanji is indeed a Jivanmukta, a Stitha-Pragnya, an enlightened one, a Brahma-Gyani. Such a person alone is an effortless Manish. Jai Manish, Jai Kapish.
In the end Poojya Guruji asked all the devotees to pray to Hanumanji to be a master of our minds too, for this alone is the true door for all kinds of achievements, fulfillment & success. For this everyone should do some meditation daily.
With this discourse the discussion on this chaupayi is concluded and Poojya Guruji said that from next session we shall start the reflection on the next chaupayi – which will be on the last Sunday of Jan i.e. – 25th Jan.
