Hanuman Chalisa Satsang: Jan 2015

The Jan 2015 edition of the monthly Hanuman Chalisa Satsang was organized at the Sankaracharya Sabhagruh of the Vedanta Ashram on the evening of 25th Jan 2015. The evening began with lovely bhajans presented by the devotees from Dass-Bagichi Bhajan Mandal. Thereafter there was the congregational chanting of Hanuman Chalisa and then was the inspiring & enlightening pravachan on the word ‘Rama-Duta‘ of the 2nd chaupayi of the chalisa.

Poojya Guruji said that this Rama-Duta name reveals that identity of Hanumanji which he loved the most on this stage of life. Even though Hanumanji is a manifestation of Lord Shiva himself, yet he reveals the glory of being a bhakta. That is why he loves this identity very much. Rama-duta means being an instrument of Ramji. It is this identity which Hanumanji reveals even to Ravana when he was asked about the secret of his immense strength & valor. Hanumanji not only loves this name most, but this name is a goal of every devotee – living as an instrument of God. This is what Bhagwan Sri Krishna also advised Arjuna in the 11th chapter of Bhagwat Gita – ‘Be my instrument’.

Poojya Guruji explained that to be an instrument of God no one needs to leave their existing life, but consider whatever we are as the wish of God. Changing the label of our nature & identity – to it being the wish of God is the secret of surrender.

Yogi’s Birthday

Yogi, the lovely & devoted Ashram Pet is a beloved of everyone at the Vedanta Ashram. He is a member of the Ashram family, taking care of everyone & also the Ashram with great attention & devotion. After Isha expired in July 2013, he is alone, but is more of an introvert. He loves to sit alone, yet as & when required he is his lovable self in the midst of everyone. Even a small noise is enough to bring him to his toes. He is an inspiration for everyone when he sits quietly reveling in himself yet alert to the smallest disturbance or requirement. Looking at him it doesn’t appear that he is not aware of the world outside, yet the way he sits alone, it doesn’t appear that the world is of too great an importance to him – that’s our definition of introvertedness. He is in the world yet is in a world of his own.

His devotion is yet another inspiration. He is so devoted to Poojya Guruji that one can feel that he is now completely at home, someone who is now complete. It is so nice to see him coming at the exact time of his meals and call Guruji to take him personally for his meals, then alone he starts eating nicely. He has a bite before going to sleep also and religiously comes and request Guruji to now close his computer and come to the bedroom. Every pet is indeed unique, and Yogi has some unique differences, and overall he is just great.
