Hanuman Chalisa Satsang – May 2016

The May edition of the monthly Hanuman Chalisa Satsang was organized on 29th – the last Sunday of the month. As ususal the Satsang program started with lovely spirited bhajans by the Bhajan Mandali. Later when Poojya Guruji came on the Vyasa Peetha, he was welcomed by Sh Sunil Kumar Oza, and later everyone chanted Hanuman Chalisa and lead by Poojya Guruji everyone did Ram-Naam Sankirtan, and then started the main pravachan. Poojya Guruji started & also concluded his elaboration of the first part of the 9th chaupayi – सूक्ष्म रूप धरी सिहहि दिखावा, and thereafter started the 2nd line.

Poojya Guruji continued his discourse on the first part of the 9th chaupayi which was: सूक्ष्म रूप धरी सिहहि दिखावा. The discourse was basically in two parts. One, the effortless capacity of Hanumanji to take up appropriate form as per the necessity of a situation; and Two, his first dealing with Sita Mata. Both these aspects are awesome, and require patient deliberation & meditation.

The incapacity of a person to take up appropriate role as per the situation is indicative of this attachments, fancies & conditionings. These play very big role to bring about incapacity to deal with life properly. This blockages also bring heartbreaks, sorrow & failure in life. Man should be like the Sphatik stone, colorless, and also capable to don any role which the situation so demands. Hanumanji not only had that freedom & capability, but always came out with flying colors. The confidence of Sitaji was won over basically because of this quality of Hanumanji. Responses to situations should not be on the basis of what we like, but what the situation demands. This is what the efface of ego is all about. Ego is all about having an identity based on our limited likes, while a person of Self-Knowledge reveals in pure unconditioned ‘being’, and taking up any form as the situation so demands – without any problem whatsoever. Whether it is taking up a small child-like form or donning a terrible form to fight the demands, Hanumanji doesn’t seem to have any problems whatsoever. This basically speaks about where he stands.

Poojya Guruji devoted the other part of the pravachan on another awesome quality of Hanumanji – handling women. This was the first time we came across his story of dealing with a women, and again he came out with flying colors. Sitaji, the divine Mother, had a terrible experience believing a person in the attire of a sadhu, and we know the consequence of all that, now she could not believe just anyone. Once bitten twice shy. Women by nature are unique. They are blessed with a personality which predominantly works with her heart. She takes care of everyone so lovingly, and her child is always a child for her, no matter how big he becomes. Man works with his head, so is different. That is why women are at times unpredictable by their male partners or relatives. Man is fascinated by women, but most of the times has terrible experiences in his relationships with women folks. They work with as though different priority, different values etc. So handling women is all about knowing how they work & think. Hanumanji was obviously very well aware of all this, and the test of this was the winning of her confidence. In our religion, we respect women, they are seen as Devi, the divine mother. In his handling such a situation, in which there was no chances of failure, Hanumanji started softly singing the glories of Ramji, which not only surprised Sitaji but her happiness know no bounds. He then dropped the ring, and this was the height of Sitajis inquisitiveness. She asked the person here to come in front of her. Then Hanumanji came in a very small child-like form. This all the more brought out the mother in Sitaji. Hanumanji handled the extremely delicate situation in an amazing way. We salute him for this awesome achievement.

Gita Gyana Yagna – Mumbai

A week-long GITA GYANA YAGNA by Poojya Guruji Sri Swami Atmanandaji was organized at lovely & plush Vivekananda Auditorium, inside Ramkrishna Math, Mumbai from 15th to 21st May 2016. The subject matter of the twin discourse series were: Gita Chapter 14 and Mundaka Upanishad 3-2.

In the 14th Chapter of Bhagwad Gita, Poojya Guruji revealed the viveka of Gunas & the Gunatita tattva. He said knowing something very clearly as an object, negates all its possibility of being mistaken as the Self. The first effect of the knowledge of all the three gunas is that Sattva Guna will start increasing. It is already the fundamental material of our ind, but has been as though made impure by other gunas. Thoughtfulness alone increases Sattva Guna. The second stage of this viveka is negation of all sense of doership on the self, for everything being done by the gunas. Imposition of doership is the biggest veil on the self, thus its negation as though opens the door of its realization. In the end Bhagwan reveals various details of the Gutatita.

In the morning session, which was also the concluding section of Mundaka Upanishad – going on for 3 years, Poojya Guruji revealed the requisites of a good student and finally the lakshanas of Self which he subsequently realizes.

On the last day, Poojya Guruji along with various morning session students had the honor of having breakfast with the President of Ramkrishna Math, P. Swami Sarvalokanandaji.
