Hanuman Chalisa Satsang: Aug 2016

The Aug edition of the monthly Hanuman Chalisa Satsang was organized on 28th – the last Sunday of the month. As ususal the Satsang program started with lovely spirited bhajans by the Das Bagichi Bhajan Mandali. Later when Poojya Guruji came on the Vyasa Peetha, he was welcomed by Sh Sunil Kumar Oza, and later everyone chanted Hanuman Chalisa, and lead by Poojya Guruji everyone did Ram-Naam Sankirtan, and then started the main pravachan. Poojya Guruji started & also concluded his pravachan of the 11th chaupayi – लाय  सजीवनि लखन जियाये। श्री रघुवीर हरष उर लाए ।।

Poojya Guruji first briefly summarized his last discourse (10th chaupayi), and then started the discourse on the next one. Hanumanji represents a completely evolved & wise man – blessed with a holistic personality. Very strong body, a very sensitive heart and also a very sharp intellect – capable of handling any situation in life at the spur of the moment. Such people never wish & pray to change the situations but take is as an opportunity – to further the cause of Ishwar. This proficiency of handling various challenging situations so intelligently & dexterously is being sung here by Goswami Tulsidasji.  In the next chaupayi another almost impossible situation is being mentioned in which only Hanumanji could & did act. That was the life-saving chapter of Lakshmanji – the younger brother of Bhagwan Sri Ram.

Ravana was fast losing the battle with Ramji in his own home turf. Now a terrible news came about the fall of Kumbhakarana. This was extremely shocking for Ravana and also for his Army & people. It was a great morale booster for Ramji’s forces. So Ravana planned to target Lakshman first. For that he deputed his celebrated son Indrajit Meghnad. The mission was to use any weapon or strategy to kill Lakshman. When Meghnad went to the battlefront the next day, a very fierce battle ensued. When all his weapons were proving to be fruitless, he decided to use his special weapon of Shakti on Lakshmanji, and then finally Lakshmanji fell – unconscious. There was celebrations in Ravana’s camp, and they planned to take the body of Lakshman to Ravana. However, inspite of all their efforts, they could not even move the body, and at that time Hanumanji suddenly appeared and flew away with the body of Lakshmanji to his camp. Ramji was terribly shocked with this development and in his profound grief, he even decided to end his life. Vibhashan coaxed him and told him that as the pulse of Lakshman was still there, so he should not give up hope, but try to revive him at the earliest. He told Ramji about a great physician in Lanka, Sushena Vaidya, who could revive & cure just anything & anyone. Hanumanji was given the task of getting him at the earliest. Hanumanji went to Lanka, and requested the celebrated physician to come urgently. When Hanumanji saw that Sushena was showing some reservations of trying to cure an enemy person, then Hanumanji lifted the Vaidya along with his house and brought him to his camp. On seeing Vibhishan there all his reservations vanished and he got to his job. Even though all his medicines were also there with him, as his whole house had been brought, but he said that there is hope for Lakshman if he could be given Sanjeevani booti before sunrise tomorrow morning. He said that this booti was only available on a particular mountain in the Himalayas, and that was Dronagiri. Sugreeva knew that again it was Hanumanji alone who could get this work done, and asked him to go. Sushena Vaidya told Hanumanji of the special characteristics of the herb and he left immediately.

In the meantime Ravana came to know about this development, and asked a Rakshasa called Kalnemi (Ravana’s chacha) to go and obstruct the way of Hanumanji. His mission was clear, just delay Hanumanji. Kalnemi took the form of a tapasvi and was seen doing Bhajan of Ramji. As Hanumanji was very thirsty he stopped at his Ashram, and initially believed the false sage, and went to the river to take a dip, there a crocodile came and a fight ensued in which it was killed, and out of that killed crocodile appeared a dev-kanya. She told him that she was earlier cursed to take up the form of a crocodile and she was told that it will be Hanumanji who will liberate her from that curse. She thanked Hanumanji and told him a secret that this sage is in fact Kalnemi Rakshasa, and has taken this form to kill him with deception. Hanumanji thanked the kanya, and then went to Kapati-Muni and immediately killed him, and threw him far off to Lanka.

Hanumanji continued his journey and reached Dronagiri, and as he could not identify the herbs, and lifted the whole mountain and took it with him. Everyone was desperately waiting for him and he arrived just in time for Sushena Viadya to get the herb and save the life of Lakshman. Ramji was highly elated & obliged to all what Hanumanji had done.

In the end there was sankirtan, aarti and prasad.

In the Gita session was discussed the qualities of every guna discussed in various chapters of Gita. In the Meditation session that which was discussed in Panchadasi was tried to be seen & internalized.

4th Savan Somvar

Savan Cultural Evening at Ashram

Every Monday in the month of Savan Bhagwan Sri Gangeshwar Mahadev is decorated in a special way, and so also on 8th Aug, the third Savan Somvar Bhagwan as decorated as Neelkantha – the one who saved the world by drinking the poison which came out of Samudra Manthan. He was seen holding a cup full of the terrible Halahal poison in his hand, his neck had become blue for life an in the background were the stars and planets.

After the main Aarti everyone gathered in the hall behind the mandir for a special presentation by the Balvihar children depicting the Samudra Manthan. Under the guidance of Ashram Mahatmas the children had worked hard and prepared the skit in just two days. Before the drama children chanted some shlokas and sang bhajans and then welcomed all Mahatmas & guest. They offered flowers to Poojya Guruji and Swamini Amitanandaji whose birthday was also on this day. Poojya Swaminiji first did the puja of Poojya Guruji.

As the curtain was raised we could see Bhagwan Shankar and Mata Parvati sitting in the back ground, while the devatas and asuras dressed in white & black resp on the front. Mandar Parvat was in the center and the Vasuki Naag was used as the rope.

P. Swamini Samatanandaji was the comperer. She beautifully narrated the story and told its significance. Her narration was like a commentary and as she took us forward the children did lovely acting and presented the scene. Before the Amrut and the Poison the things which came out were Moon, Kalpa-Vruksha & Lakshmiji. Children had dressed up for these things. Hiding below the ocean covered in white bed-sheets, they surfaced slowly as their name was announced. Manifestation of Lakshmiji was enjoyed by all, as she came and threw flowers as blessings to all.

Shivji going to drink Poison

Finally Dhanwantariji came out with Amrut Kalash

When poison came out the devatas together went to Bhagwan Shivji and requested him to somehow save the world. Shivji finally decides to drink the poison himself, but when he was drinking Parvatiji caught hold of his neck and the poison could not go down further and that is how he came to be called Neelkatha. The churning again started and finally Dhanwantariji came out with a kalash full of Amrut, and that is where this drama ended. We know the subsequent story as to how Bhagwan Vishnu came as Mohini to distract Asuras and he gave the Amrut to devatas.

After the show, all the children got a chance to come forward and introduce themselves. Later there was the cake cutting and Falhari Bhojan for all.

Hanuman Chalisa Satsang: July 2016

The July edition of the monthly Hanuman Chalisa Satsang was organized on 31st – the last Sunday of the month. As ususal the Satsang program started with lovely spirited bhajans by the Bhajan Mandali. Poojya Guruji started & also concluded his elaboration of the 10th chaupayi – भीम रूप धरि असुर संहारे। रामचंद्र के काज संवारे।।

   IMG_5892_1280x853_640x426 IMG_5905_1280x853_640x426 IMG_5908_1280x853_640x426

Poojya Guruji first summarized his last discourse (9th chaupayi), and then started the discourse on the next one. The understanding of every situation of life and thereafter giving an appropriate response is the sign of a truly wise person. At one time Hanumanji is seen dealing with a heartbroken Sitaji and at other times he is seen responding to the pressure tactics of Ravana.

In the 10th chaupayi it is being said that at other times Hanumanji revealed his extremely strong form – Bhima roopa. The word Bhima stands for one who is very strong. Hanumanji is incidently the elder brother of Bhima of Mahabharata fame. Bhima was also born with the blessings of Pavan devata. There is an interesting incident of the meeting of both of them in Mahabharata. Hanumanjis strength was such that even Bhima could not raise his tail. His awesome strength was revealed in the battle field. Ravana who as very strong, got a blow from Hanumanji and it literally fainted him, so also the story goes about his blow to Kumbhakarana.

There are situations in life when the weak ones are just swept away in the waves of life. Strength is required even for our existence. Weak ones cannot achieve any great things in life. Whether it is facing challenges, doing your duties, facing evil people, or even fighting health issues, only the strong ones com out with shining colors. Strength is inherent in all, it has to be just invoked. One who can take care of his body & mind properly alone can take care of everything else in life properly. The best part of the chaupayi is that the basic motivation of doing all this was to be a proper instrument of Ramji – God. He gave out everything for sewa.

In the end there was sankirtan, aarti and prasad.
