Hinduism: the real World Religion

Every Religion has its philosophy – as to how it looks at the world, its truth, its people and the life. Vedanta is the philosophy of Hinduism. Vedanta stands apart from every other philosophy of the world. It is unique, magnanimous, all-embracing and is relevant to all places & times. No wonder the real name of Hinduism is Sanatan Dharma – the eternal & timeless dharma. While dharma is not merely religion, but religion is certainly a part of the definition of dharma. Dharma is basically the truth of empirical things, and a life based on verifiable facts of life which are relevant to all times & places is Sanatan Dharma. We got the name Hindu, by our foreign visitors who wanted to indicate the ‘different’ people living on the other side of Indus river. The word stuck on and today even in our official census we are asked whether we are Hindus or of other prevalent religion.
Every person whether he or she is a theist or is an atheist, has a definite understanding about the truth of life, and based on this, we all have a ‘plan of life’. Our understanding of the truth of life is what philosophy all about, and a life based on our understanding is our religion. Thus we all can be classified under some school of philosophy and we all follow some religion. Our religion could range from thoughtful conscientious living to whimsical & spontaneous licentiousness. If the religion of some people is not very healthy for themselves or for the others around, then what we need to check out and correct in their philosophy. That has been the thoughtful way of our ancient masters, that is why there was the ancient system of shastrarthas. We don’t just condemn a person, we rather try to appreciate their philosophy of life and have an open discussion on it to set things on a more factual level. Followers may be blind, but their leaders are expected to be thoughtful – so the sect leaders had these open debates.
Hinduism reveals that basically everyone is divine, good & complete. The Upanishads declare that ‘Ayam Atma Brahman’. The world is not static & permanent, but is rather a realm of change, and what we see around is what our mind considers worthy & important. A way of life based on these fundamental truths of life is the essence of Hinduism. This is Hindutva. It is only when we appreciate that Hindutva is a life based on these facts of life, that the so called Hinduism shall become all-embracing. It will not only integrate the different people of the country, but can also potentially embrace all the people & countries of the world. Belief in such facts alone shall lead everyone to a life of life, peace & lasting fulfillment. Such a way of life is conducive not only to the personal well-being & dignity of everyone, but is even eco-friendly. The world will be saved from thoughtless exploitation. It is time we redefine our understanding of Hinduism – and thus save ourselves and also the world from endless violence, destruction and inevitable collapse. Hinduism alone is truly the real World Religion – it alone assures the well-being of all, whether humans, animals or the whole eco-system. All others fragment, divide, kill or destroy. It alone has the all-embracing magnanimous philosophy, based on time-tested & verifiable facts of life – for the well-being of all. India is a living example of this fact. It is for the whole world to see that the philosophy & values of the people of India – our Bharat-Mata, is such that everyone can live here happily, provided they too equally respect the freedom of others too.

Satsang at ‘Maharshi Gautam Samaj’ :

On the occasion of the annual get together of the ‘Maharshi Gautam Brahmin Samaj’ the members requested Poojya Guruji for a Satsang. This was organized at their Samaj Dharamshala on the Airport Road on 31st March 2014 evening.

The members respectfully did the Pada Prakshalan of Poojya Guruji and then welcomed him with garland, shawl, fruits, coconut and dakshina. After a brief introduction of Poojya Guruji he gave an enlightening talk on the ‘Life & Message of Maharshi Gautam‘ to the hundreds of members who had gathered there on the occasion. Later there was Aarti of Maharshi Gautam, whose statue is installed there.

Podcast: Yoga is based on duality – Poojya Guruji

ggy-mum_ (5)

Yoga is great to prepare our body & mind for the great journey for Self-Knowledge. However, one should be clearly aware that the role of Yoga is just for this preparation and can never go all the way. Yoga makes sense as long as the duality is taken as real, because it talks in the language of duality alone. This notion of duality is basically a presumption of our own minds, and therefore at some stage when we realize this fundamental error then Yoga too stands negated. It becomes meaningless. Moksha is all about realizing that ‘I am That’, not that ‘I have to become that’. Moksha is just by knowledge and not by any karma. Every process of becoming is karma.

Check out a small clip of the English discourse of Poojya Guruji Sri Swami Atmanandaji given to Br Ram in his discourses on Atma-Bodha – revealing this fact.

VM Podcast: The great divide between ‘What is’ & ‘What shd be’.

On one hand there is ‘What is’, and on the other hand there is ‘What should be’. What is – is the truth, and What shd be – is the realm of imagination. If we somehow erroneously conclude that what is, is incomplete, and run after What shd be, then this is the longest and also a never ending journey, and is called Samsara. This is the real duality, the prescription to all sufferings. The solution simply lies in becoming aware of the truth of ‘What is’. That is freedom – Moksha.

Why I am Happy about Modiji

Real Inheritance of Modiji:

The only inheritance of Narendrabhai Modi is his spiritual & cultural values, and empowered by these assets of selflessness, hard work & integrity he has been winning hearts of his people, in & outside Gujarat in an amazing way. Such people all the more validate the beauty & efficacy of good spiritual qualities. It is not about the individuals, but is all about the importance & beauty of some good qualities & values. In Tulsi Ramayana, Bhagwan Sri Ram told Vibhishan that the chariot riding which a man goes around winning the great wars & challenges of life is not something outside, but are some divine qualities of mind. Thereafter he enumerated them in great details in the section which is now famous as Dharma-Rath. I am happy that a person who is truly committed to some divine qualities not only gets success in various fields, but is blessed with much more. These qualities alone assure that a person even from humble background can rise so high in the country & world.

Swami Vivekananda & Vedanta:

The majority are happy about Modiji because he works so sincerely & fearlessly for the well-being of all, but I am happy for some other reason too. For the first time we have a potential CEO of the country who is not only committed to good spiritual values, but also to the timeless philosophy of Hinduism, which is Vedanta. Whoever is inspired by Swami Vivekananda is basically inspired by the vision of Vedanta. Vedanta is the greatest inheritance of entire mankind, the best which anyone can ever think & dream. Whatever Swami Vivekananda was, it was all because of Vedanta. Ram-Rajya was possible because Sri Ram was an embodiment of Vedanta, and so also was Bhagwan Sri Krishna. He lived Vedanta and he taught Vedanta in Gita. In Modiji I see a person who has profound value & respect for Vedanta. I did not see this fragrance in other BJP leaders, including Atalji or Advaniji, and this is what makes me truly happy. I wish & pray that may the vision of Vedanta continue to empower, enrich & enliven his life all the more, as much as the lives of everyone else. Vedanta is truly the philosophy of freedom, fulfilment & success.

The Real Secularism:

The tragedy of India has so far been that we have ignored our spiritual values, vision & inheritance. The real implication of Secularirm should have been to get the best of all the saints & sages of all religions, to help our countrymen & the world in the best possible manner, but unfortunately all this was just ignored, and was literally left to dogs. The funny thing is that we have ministers even for School & College education, but that knowledge, which is the greatest of our heritage for the well-being of the entire world, has no place in the plan of any leaders. It is all left to some individuals & institutions, with their meagre resources to do whatever they can. Governments are all about doing things on mega scale, but no one even seemed to have a thought or heart for such things. There were some, like Dr Radhakrishnan, Dr Abdul Kalam etc., who spoke on its importance, but alas they were never the CEO’s of the country, and therefore nothing concrete was done to make people aware of these extremely important truths of life. The problems of corruption, violence, rapes, dirty minds in dirty places all reveal the consequence of ignoring these true man-making values. Bhagwan Sri Ram, not only managed the economy of his country nicely, but personally saw to it that his people got such knowledge & values. With all the existing diversity in our country we do not say, that we declare ourselves as a spiritual state etc, but someone can certainly channelize the best of wisdom of all to make the basic character of the people of this country something all the more better. Every citizen of this country deserves something better.

World-class Universal Consciousness Center:

We need to have a government sponsored and financed research center of spiritual knowledge & wisdom. Truth is not confined to just one book or tradition, so let everyone give out their best for the betterment of all. I dream of an International Center of Universal Consciousness. This will not only help bring about true unity of all our countrymen, but can well be a unifying factor of all the people of the world, in the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. Let such a research center devise courses for children, youth, executives, women, old people; let it become a catalyst for encouraging art & literature based on such noble unifying non-dual vision. Let it be a center for inspiring & guiding people from all backgrounds, including foreigners, who always look-upto our country for such guidance. India has contributed in a profound way for the beauty of the world, and can do much more. We are blessed that both the science & technology of such things is available, all what we need is an inspired & committed person on top. A real noble & committed executive, a true son of our Rishis. In Modiji I somehow have a faint hope that such things may be possible in our country.
